Mexican Guacamole
Guacamole (pronounced as gwaa·kuh·mow·lee) is an avocado-based Mexican dip. It is traditionally made in molcajete which is type of stone mortar and pestle that’s been used in Mexico for thousands of years, but you can use a bowl and a fork instead as well. It makes for a great dip that you can prepare under 10 mins for any party or gathering.
Servings: 3
Ingredients
- 2 Avocados
- 1 tbsp Lime Juice
- 1 Jalapeño (deseeded)
- 1/4th cup Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 Tomatoes (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/4th cup Cilantro/Coriander (finely Chopped)
Instructions
- Before you cut the avocados, make sure all other ingredients are prepped.
- Deseed 1 jalapeño and finely chop it. Also, finely chop 1/4th cup onion, 2 tomatoes, 1/4th cup fresh cilantro and squeeze 1 tbsp lime juice and keep them aside.
- Now cut 2 avocados from the center, remove the pit and scoop out the avocado into a bowl. Mash the avocados with a masher, pestle or back of a fork until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Immediately add 1 finely chopped deseeded jalapeño, 1/4th cup finely chopped onion, 2 finely chopped tomatoes, 1/4th cup fresh cilantro, 1 tbsp lime juice and give it a good mix.
- Serve immediately with some tortilla chips and enjoy!
Notes
- It is important that you choose the right avocados. They shouldn’t be too firm or too soft.
- Avocados tend to turn brown in no time. The best way to avoid guacamole from turning brown is to make it fresh right before eating.
- However, if you want to make guacamole little in advance and prevent it from turning brown there are a few ways. Add some extra lime juice, keep the pit of the avocado in the guacamole until you serve it and cover the guacamole with a plastic wrap.
