Nutella Crepe with Whipped Cream

July 27, 2020

Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

Nutella crepe always looked so rich, intimidating and aesthetically pleasing. For a long time I used to feel that getting it right at home was simply not possible and it wouldn’t taste the same as in a restaurant.

Last year, when I was travelling in France, I bumped into a small bistro in Lyon on a rainy afternoon. There I had the most heavenly Nutella Crepe with whipped cream ever. The taste of it still lingers on my mind. After talking with the chef and sharing our thoughts on French cuisine, I made up my mind that once I am back home in Canada, I shall try and recreate the same recipe. With just  a couple of attempts I was able to achieve the exact same heavenly crepe with the restaurant style finish, which I am going to share with you today.

Simply follow the recipe step by step carefully and you shall have a restaurant style Nutella Crepe with whipped cream on your plate at home in no time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 2 tbsp Melted butter
  • ¼ Salt
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • Nutella (1 tbsp per crepe)
  • 1 tbsp Icing Sugar
  • Whipped Cream – Store bought or homemade. Click here for Whipped Cream recipe

Instructions

Crepe

  • In a large mixing bowl, sieve 1 cup of all purpose flour.. To which add ¼ tsp salt, 1 tbsp granulated sugar and mix using a spatula.
  • Then add 2 tbsp melted butter, 2 eggs and give it a mix.
  • Little by little add 1 cup of milk while mixing it continuously using a whisk. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  • Heat a 10 inch non-stick pan over medium heat. Glaze some butter onto the pan.
  • Using a ⅓ cup measuring cup, pour the batter in the center of the pan and then start tilting the pan in a circular motion such that the batter coats evenly throughout the surface of the pan.
  • Let the crepe cook for 1 mins and then flip it to cook the other side. (Approx 1 more min).
  • Remove it on a plate.

Nutella and whipped cream filling

  • Warm half cup of Nutella in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir it, transfer it to a piping bag and cut a fine tip.
  • Take one crep, spread some whipped cream on one side of the crepe. Drizzle nutella over the whipped cream.
  • Fold the crepe in half. Drizzle more nutella on the top of crepe in zigzag motion to get the desired look as that shown in the picture.
  • Take 1 tbsp icing sugar in a small sieve and dust it over the crepe with a light hand.
  • Serve the crepe immediately.
  • Repeat the same process with the remaining crepes.

Notes

  • To get the desired finesse of nutella drizzle, it is imperative to warm the nutelle first and also use a piping bag.
