Pickled Onions

You can add pickled Onions to your burgers, tacos, salads, sandwiches, etc for that perfect crunch and the right amount of tanginess. I keep pickled onions in my refrigerator throughout the year as they come very handy.

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium Red Onion (Thinly Sliced)
  • 1 cup Water
  • ½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1½ tsp Salt (Preferably Kosher Salt)
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  • Thinly slice 1 medium red onion and place it in a heat resistant and airtight glass jar.
  • Boil 1 cup of water in a pot. Then take it off the heat.
  • Now add ½ cup apple cider vinegar, 1 & ½ tsp salt and 1 tbsp granulated sugar to the water.
  • Whisk them all together until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Now pour this mixture into the glass jar filled with sliced onion. With the help of the back of a spoon, give it a stir.
  • Close the lid and place the jar in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before eating.
  • Ready to consume over salads, sandwiches or on their own!

Notes

  • Pickled onions last in the refrigerator for easily two weeks.
  • If you like some heat in the onions, sprinkle some dried chilli flakes in the jar before refrigerating.
