Marinara sauce is one of the most versatile sauce you can have in your pantry and is ideal to make quick dinner. The possibilities of dishes you can prepare using this sauce are endless. You can use it in pastas, bakes ziti, marinara pizza, Italian soup, lasagna, etc.
Add 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp crushed red chili flakes, 7-8 fresh basil leaves, and mix everything with a spatula.
Cover the pot with a lid and let this sauce simmer for 45 mins over low heat. (Give it a stir once every 15 mins).
Let the marinara sauce cool down. Then blend this sauce smooth using an immersion blender or stand blender. If you enjoy chunky marinara, simple crush the tomatoes with the back of the wooden spatula.
Serve warm with some fresh pasta!
This sauce keeps well, covered and refrigerated, for up to 4 days. Freeze it for up to 6 months.
